Waldorf Astoria New York, which closed for three-year-long renovations in 2017, is set to reopen in the spring of next year (2025), but it has now only opened paid and award reservations from September 1.
The paid rates look really high, starting at roughly $2K per night, but you can book it for 150,000 points per night (the fifth night is free).

Conclusion
Hilton owned this hotel for more than 60 years but sold it to the Chinese Anbang in 2014. Anbang later went bankrupt, and the property has changed hands a couple of times since.
These renovation projects tend to take longer than originally planned, but this is now 4 to 5 years late. It appears to open next year, although reservations are only from September 1st.
At least the hopes when it comes to the room rates are on the very positive side. This would be an excellent opportunity for Honors members to burn their points.
