The Thompson Zihuatanejo is a boutique hotel, part of World of Hyatt, that opened in 2019 following a major renovation of the former Villa del Sol property. The 56-room hotel is located directly on Playa La Ropa beach, just 15 minutes by car from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport. The architectural and interior design were managed by the local firm Andrés Saavedra Design, with furniture and original artwork sourced from the nearby artist collective Casa Studio. This collaboration imbues the property with a distinctly local atmosphere, featuring colorful handwoven rugs, mosaic tiling, and native stone elements throughout the guest rooms and suites.
Step off a private terrace or balcony and wade out into a plunge pool isolated by a screen of live palms. Peer out across lush garden views from the comforts of a king bed or modular sitting area accented with brass light fixtures and carved wooden screens. Geometric tiles, dark granite, and a rainfall shower complete the bathroom.
The room is spacious and comfortable, set within a charming property. While designed primarily for holidaymakers, it features a proper desk, making it suitable for work or catching up on tasks if needed. The property is a Category 6 hotel in the World of Hyatt program, with room rates starting at 25,000 points per night and suites from 40,000 points. Cash prices for next month begin at approximately $320++ per night.
