The Savoy, located on the Strand in the City of Westminster, central London, was the first purpose-built luxury hotel in the city. Opened on August 6, 1889, it was commissioned by the impresario Richard D’Oyly Carte. The hotel introduced numerous innovations for its time, including electric lighting throughout the building, electric lifts, and bathrooms in most of its elegantly furnished rooms. Guests also benefited from the convenience of constant hot and cold running water, setting new standards for comfort and modernity in British hospitality.
The Savoy has been managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts since 2004. Between 2007 and 2010, the hotel underwent an extensive renovation, during which it remained closed to the public. Today, it features 267 guest rooms and offers panoramic views of the River Thames, overlooking Savoy Place and the Thames Embankment.
The exuberance, wit and charisma of Mel Brooks, Noel Coward, Frank Sinatra, and Richard Harris are celebrated in our one-bedroom Art Deco Personality Suites.
All suites feature a large bedroom – including a king-size bed, dressing table and armchair – and a separate sitting room, independent dressing area, marble entrance foyer and guest cloakroom. En-suite marble bathrooms, with Penhaligon’s amenities, are fitted with freestanding claw-foot baths, double vanity units, and separate walk-in showers with the famous Savoy rainfall showerhead.
Suite guests enjoy our dedicated butler service, offering the discretion of a traditional English butler with the efficiency of a 21st-century personal assistant.
This suite stands out as particularly spacious for Central London, especially in a historic property like this one.
Looking ahead to next month, room rates at this property start at GBP 760 per night, while Personality Suites, such as this one, are priced at GBP 3,220 per night. The high cost reflects the premium London hotel market, which continues to command some of the most elevated rates globally.
