Hilton & Delta launched a cross-match late last week (read more here and here) in which select Honors members would receive Medallion status and vice versa.
The match opportunity came from “nowhere,” although Marriott has teamed up with United and Hyatt with American Airlines, and they have had frequent status and other promotions for years.
You can access Hilton’s match for Delta here, and Delta’s for Hilton here.

It is unclear who were eligible for these status match offers, and what criteria Hilton and Delta used to choose them.
I would like readers to report their current Hilton or Delta status and whether they were offered Delta Silver/Gold or Hilton Gold/Diamond.
This would be very helpful for us in resolving this mystery.
My Lifetime Diamond Honors account with 54 nights this year was eligible for the Delta Gold Medallion.
A friend of mine who is a Diamond with Delta (Honors Gold from Amex) was not eligible for the Hilton Diamond status under this offer.
Conclusion
These offers where hotels and airlines match each other always get some excited while others are enraged because more elite members are around to compete when it comes to upgrades (applies to both hotels and airlines).
Anyone with a top-tier airline or hotel status (or both) probably has their traveler preferences set, and these matches may help them try other brands.
Let’s see if Hilton and Delta have a more close relationship in the future, like what other US hoteliers and airlines have already had for years (United & Marriott and Americas & Hyatt)
So, were you eligible for one of these matches, and what is your current Hilton or Delta status? Please comment below.
