A friend of mine sent me a question about Accor Live Limitless status and how to get the missing points for the Platinum by the end of the year.

Current Status:
My friend is 2,853 status points short of Platinum.
You earn 2.5 points per EUR at most Accor brands.
By the end of the year, my friend would need (2853/2.5) = 1,141 EUR in eligible spending.
They have two stays coming up with roughly $700 (662 EUR), leaving them just 500 euros short.
I suggested that it would perhaps be worth signing up for the ALL Signature (read more here) to get the missing elite qualifying points + 1,500 EUR worth of award points over the next 12 months for less than 1K euros in upfront payment.
However, my friend wasn’t sure if he needed the Platinum status, as he doesn’t travel that much (see the night count = expensive stays).
I then said that it is better not to spend the cash if you are unsure.

Conclusion
At the end of the day, you must do what you feel is the RIGHT choice for you.
Sometimes, “chasing” status can make sense if you can reap the benefits, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to achieve it.
I have an issue with the “fussy” math that some use to “value” the benefits they receive from their status. For example, they would have never paid for the upgrade or the breakfasts, but here is their “value,” and then they reference the price list.
