- Pi Network has urged users to rely only on its official Safety Center, as frustrations grow over delays and uncertainty surrounding the open mainnet launch.
- With the KYC milestone still unmet, only 8 million users have migrated, and another delay looms if the network fails to hit 15 million.
Pi Network has issued a crucial advisory, urging users to rely solely on the official Pi Safety Center for communications and links to its applications and products. The warning comes at a time when the platform faces mounting frustration over delayed milestones and an uncertain future.

Many users welcomed the announcement, calling it a “necessary reminder” to protect their wallets and accounts. However, a large portion of the community expected a completely different statement—one that would confirm the long-awaited launch of the open mainnet or the official listing of Pi Coin.
The project, which started nearly six years ago, remains in a restricted phase despite growing anticipation. Developers have repeatedly shifted deadlines, pushing back the open network launch as users eagerly await progress.
15 Million KYC Target Still Unmet
At the start of January, Pi Network stated that its migration process was progressing well, with over 9 million users successfully moving to the mainnet. Prior to that, the team reported that 14 million had completed the Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification. However, the key milestone for the network’s open launch requires at least 15 million verified users to complete migration.
As we reported earlier, the latest deadline for the KYC process was set for January 31, 2025, after multiple extensions. If the project does not hit the 15 million mark, another delay could be on the table—something that would only add to the community’s impatience.
The Grace Period requires both KYC and Mainnet migration to be completed by January 31, 2025 to avoid forfeiting most of your Pi other than Pi mined within the rolling window of the last 6 months before your Pi is migrated. Make sure to stay within the deadline!…

Meanwhile, a portion of users remains stuck in the KYC queue due to technical issues. The developers have pointed out that some users need to complete additional liveness checks, ensuring their pi submissions are clear and well-lit.
Final Opportunity for Pending Users
Pi Network has urged those still waiting on KYC results to take additional steps to avoid being left out. “When prompted in the mining app for such additional liveness checks, please take the liveness checks and do not close the popup,” the guidance states.
Additionally, the team reminded users that signing the token acknowledgment is mandatory for migration to the mainnet, even if verification is still pending. Users facing name mismatches or other issues were advised to either update their details using Pi tokens or appeal to resubmit their KYC application.
With only 8 million verified users having successfully transferred their coins to the mainnet, the KYC process will officially close when the count reaches at least 10 million. This means time is running out for those still stuck in verification limbo.
Mainnet Readiness Hinges on Three Conditions
KYC verification is only one piece of the puzzle. Pi Network developers have outlined two other crucial requirements before the open mainnet can go live. The first is ensuring at least 100 applications are fully prepared for launch. As of now, around 80 apps have been developed, leaving the team with significant work to do before the deadline.
#OpenNetwork Condition: Pi apps with real utility that are on mainnet or ready for mainnet.

The second requirement is tied to external factors, which the developers claim have already been resolved. This suggests that as long as KYC completion and application development stay on track, the long-delayed open network could finally materialize.
Despite this, skepticism remains. Many Pioneers have grown impatient with repeated delays, and failure to meet the latest deadline could further erode trust in the project.
