Marriott offers lifetime tiers for its Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers, and some of us have lifetime Titanium, which was only briefly available when the Marriott Rewards and SPG programs were combined under Bonvoy.
There is often drama around when and if Marriott adds the eligible elite years to Bonvoy accounts. This determines when you may qualify for lifetime status, and there have been issues with this in the past.
You can access Marriott’s page for lifetime tiers here.

Lifetime Platinum
- 600 nights + 10 years as Platinum or higher

When Lifetime Years Are Added:
How and when will my Eligible Status Years for 2024 and 2025 be applied to my Account?
In 2024 I achieved a new higher level.
- 2024 Tenure: Added at time of achievement in 2024 in real time.
- 2025 Tenure: Will be added on January 1, 2026, unless a higher level is achieved during 2025.
In 2024 I met the criteria to renew my current level.
- 2024 Tenure: Added on January 1, 2025.
- 2025 Tenure: Added third week of January 2025.
In 2024 I did not meet the criteria to renew my current level.
- 2024 Tenure: Added on January 1, 2025.
- 2025 Tenure: For new status, one level below current status, tenure will be added in early March 2025.
So, there is a difference when the lifetime tenure is added, depending on whether you received a higher tier (immediately), renewed (at the beginning of the year), and failed to qualify (at the start of the year for the previous year + March for the lower tier).
Conclusion
In the past few years, readers have sent many messages stating that their lifetime years were not added, but we have never been able to get to the bottom of this, even after contacting Marriott numerous times.
Marriott has now tried to clarify when these elite lifetime years are added. It appears to depend on whether you reach a higher tier, renew your current tier, or fail to qualify.
