IHG started one of their usual Award Flash Sales on Friday, offering first cobranded cardholders a 15% discount when using their points (read more here).
The offer then expanded yesterday to include all IHG One Rewards Platinum and Diamond members. IHG sent an email about this to eligible members (read more here), but apparently, it forgot to activate the discount.

Additionally, I have deposited 5,000 points to your account on behalf of IHG Hotels & Resorts as a gesture of good faith. That puts your total points balance at 41,594. This is available to view once you log in to your account on the IHG One Rewards website.
The discounted award rate shows under my IHG One Rewards account.
The IHG service center blamed an outside contractor for the issue and escalated it, per a comment left on the piece.
Conclusion
This is the problem with promotions that launch on Friday and then expand on Sunday, as no one is at the office to take care of them if something goes awry. The Philippines contact center is then left to deal with the carnage.
Also, there is an issue with the eligibility emails IHG sent out for this offer.
I have the cobranded card but never received the email on Friday. I got one on Sunday stating that this offer had been extended to my account based on the Diamond status on that date, even though it was already working on Friday.
I cannot see any other resolution for this mess than IHG extending this offer by a couple of days and sending another email about it. However, you must wait until the UK or US wakes up and someone arrives at the office to deal with this.
