Hertz sent me an email yesterday about not having enough car rentals in 2024 to keep my Five Star status and offering a fast track to keep it for another year.
This email confused me because my Hertz status through one of the credit cards is President’s Circle. So, at least, I thought, why would I need a fast-track offer to keep Five Star?

Hertz’ Email:
I’m not sure what the purpose of this email was. In 2024, my status in the program was President’s Circle. Why does Hertz claim that I would need a couple of rentals to retain Five Star?
I double-checked my Hertz account, which shows the status as a President’s Circle.
And a couple of affiliations on file.
Conclusion
Hertz has been a massive mess for the past few years, and their marketing department seems equally clueless.
I used to rent cars frequently in the early 2000s, but perhaps only a handful of times a year in the 2020s.
My last Hertz rental in December was actually booked through Trip.com, which had much better pricing than booking them directly, as is usually the case.
I am unsure if these car rental memberships make much of a difference today, but perhaps they are worth having, just in case.
