Delta SkyMiles are the butt of countless jokes – especially among travelers focused on booking business class. It’s been a while since we’ve seen even halfway decent SkyMiles rates flying Delta One to Europe and back.
That just changed. You can currently book roundtrip business class fares from many Delta hubs over to European cities like London-Heathrow (LHR), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Lisbon (LIS), Madrid (MAD), and more this winter and spring for under 167,000 SkyMiles roundtrip. That’s the lowest SkyMiles rate we’ve seen for a transatlantic Delta One fare in more than a year!
This is part of a new, advertised sale from Delta, which says that these fares will only be available through Thursday, Dec. 19. And while most of the deals Delta advertises are duds – including many in this latest sale – this one is a real gem. It’s so good, in fact, we sent Thrifty Traveler Premium members a text alert for this “unicorn” of a deal … long before Delta started spreading the word about these deals!
From its new route to Taipei (TPE) and all the way to Australia, Discounted Delta One deals have made a major resurgence in 2024. But as transatlantic travel demand has exploded over the last few years, Delta has been far more stingy with lie-flat fares to Europe, where SkyMiles rates of 400,000 or more are still the norm.
That’s what makes this Delta deal to Europe so special. While you’ll have to book roundtrip to get these sub-200,000-SkyMile rates, that’s well worth it for substantial savings. As always, Delta Amex cardholders get the best deal of all thanks to the automatic 15% discount when redeeming SkyMiles.
Is paying 166,000 SkyMiles and change for a roundtrip to Europe in business class the deal of the century? Not even close. But for SkyMiles, this is as good as it gets. It could even be well worth transferring some Amex Membership Rewards points – the ones you earn from cards like *amex platinum* or the *amex gold* – to Delta in order to get the SkyMiles you need to make this happen.
You’ll find the best availability at these rates from January through March and into April 2025. While exploring a snowy London or Amsterdam might not be your ideal transatlantic trip, March and April are the perfect time to visit Europe – before the crowds of tourists (and higher prices) descend upon the continent.
From New York City (JFK) and Boston (BOS) to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) and all the way west to Seattle (SEA), many Delta hubs are getting in on the action with this sale. Heck, even nonstops to Europe from both Orlando (MCO) and Cincinnati (CVG) are bookable at these low rates! You might also be able to book from a smaller airport with a quick connection on your way to Europe at these lower rates – just search from your home airport at Delta.com
Thrifty Tip: Always use Delta’s handy price calendar to get a five-week view and zero in on the best deals when redeeming SkyMiles.

Much of Europe is in reach from these cities, including tried-and-true favorites like London and Paris as well as others like Lisbon (LIS), Dublin (DUB), Edinburgh (EDI), or Zurich (ZRH). You might have to be picky, but can find several routes flying Delta’s newest Airbus A330-900neo – decked out with snazzy and private Delta One Suites. These state-of-the-art suites put many of Delta’s other, outdated business class seats to shame.

Depending on where you’re heading, these fares get hit with a reasonable $60 to $1000 or so in taxes and fees – or north of $350 for a roundtrip to London-Heathrow (LHR).
Thrifty Tip: Got Amex airline fee credits to burn on cards like *amex platinum*? Use your card to book this fare and cover those fees!
