IHG’s loss is World of Hyatt’s gain.
Hyatt just announced that the hotel chain has entered into a long-term licensing agreement with The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, which recently ended a long-time partnership with IHG. The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is home to two luxury hotel properties, The Venetian and The Palazzo – the only all-suite hotels on the Las Vegas strip.
An exact timeline for this integration is still unclear but in the near future, you’ll be able to book a stay at The Venetian or The Palazzo through Hyatt’s website and mobile app. This means travelers will soon be able to earn and redeem Hyatt points for stays at the luxury Las Vegas resort, as well as enjoy elite benefits during their stay.
If you’re unfamiliar, The Venetian Resort takes its design inspiration from Venice, Italy, and even features canals throughout the property … complete with gondola rides.
The hotels’ suites are spacious, ornately furnished rooms that include a separate lounge area and massive bathrooms, equipped with a walk-in shower and whirlpool soaking tub.
This is no doubt a big win for Hyatt loyalists. For years, Hyatt partnered with MGM Resorts, allowing World of Hyatt members to book many of the MGM-owned hotels on the Las Vegas Strip with Hyatt points – and work their way toward top Hyatt status in the process.
But Hyatt ended its partnership with MGM last year – and Marriott subsequently swooped in to take over – leaving the hotel chain without a single hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Earlier this year, Hyatt added the Rio Hotel & Casino to its ranks but that property is a ways from the Strip and isn’t quite up to par with other top Vegas casinos.
In the future, World of Hyatt also plans to offer elite Venetian Rewards members benefits within the World of Hyatt program. It remains to be seen what benefits Venetian Rewards members will receive but having reciprocal perks will be great for Venetian’s high-rollers.
Bottom Line
Hyatt and The Venetian Resort Las Vegas just announced a new long-term partnership that will allow World of Hyatt members to earn and redeem points at The Venetian and Palazzo hotels. What’s more, Hyatt elites will receive additional on-property benefits and if it works like Hyatt’s past Las Vegans partnerships, that could include breakfast, room upgrades, and more.
