Even after some brutal changes that made it drastically more expensive, Delta flyers wear their Medallion Status like a metaphorical badge of honor. Some even wear it as a physical badge of honor by throwing one of the airline’s luggage tags on their bags.
For the first time in years, Delta on Monday unveiled some freshly redesigned, metal bag tags for their members with elite status. And rather than simply mailing out bag tags en masse as usual, the airline now lets Medallion members customize their bag tags with a name or nickname.
Whether you’re a top-tier Delta Diamond, vaunted Million Miler, or merely stuck with lowly Silver Medallion Status, current Delta Medallion members can now customize and order these new metal bag tags at DeltaMedallionTags.com. You can enter your name, a nickname, or even choose to display how long you’ve been a SkyMiles member on these tags.
Delta says tags may take six to eight weeks to arrive after ordering. Every order comes as a set of two.
No matter which tier of Delta status you’ve got, these tags have a fresh new look. And they’re all apparently made of metal, replacing the old plastic cards Delta had been mailing out for years. There’s also space on the back to fill out some contact information – another feature the older bag tags were missing, making them borderline useless as an actual, you know, bag tag if your luggage got lost.

It may not be much, but it’s a nice and popular touch among Delta diehards – walk through any hub like Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), Detroit (DTW), and especially Atlanta (ATL) and you’re bound to see plenty of these tags on backpacks and luggage. They’ve even spawned knock-offs and parodies on Reddit.
Now, they look a bit nicer. For reference, here’s the older design Delta used for much of the last decade.
But if you want a bag tag (or perhaps we should call them brag tags) from Delta now, you have to order them – the airline no longer automatically mails them out to all Medallion members. That’s probably the point, and a way for Delta to come out ahead even on these nicer tags.
“Please note that failure to opt-in and select a bag tag before the end of the Medallion Year will result in no bag tag being mailed to you,” the airline warns on its site.

Bottom Line
If you’re a Delta Medallion member and you want the world to know it … well, you’re certainly not alone. Now, Delta is upping its game with these fan-favorite bag tags.
The Atlanta-based airline unveiled a fresh metal design for its luggage tags, allowing Medallion status members to customize their tags with a name and more. Just beware: If you want them, you’ll need to order your own set of tags – Delta is no longer automatically mailing them out to members.
