DeepL named to Forbes AI 50 List for second consecutive year

Language AI company DeepL has secured a spot on Forbes’ 2025 AI 50 list for the second consecutive year. The list, compiled with Sequoia Capital and Meritech Capital from over 1,860 submissions, spotlights companies applying artificial intelligence to solve real-world business challenges, such as language barriers.

“DeepL being named to the Forbes AI 50 list for the second year running is a huge honor,” stated Jarek Kutylowski, CEO and Founder of DeepL. “This recognition reflects the very real impact that DeepL’s language AI platform is driving for businesses and professionals around the world – helping them scale and collaborate more effectively across languages and markets. It also underscores our commitment to staying ahead of the curve through constant innovation.”

DeepL’s platform targets business and professional users, offering translation and writing tools designed to overcome communication obstacles. The secure system includes features for written and spoken translation, AI-assisted writing support, and an API for integration, addressing use cases from internal company operations to customer support.

Over 200,000 businesses and governments utilize DeepL’s platform. Clients mentioned include Softbank, Mazda, Harvard Business Publishing, The Ifo Institute, and Panasonic Connect. A ZDNET analysis ranked DeepL as the #3 most popular AI tool globally, placing it ahead of competitors like Perplexity AI, Google Translate, Gemini, and Deepseek.

This Forbes recognition follows DeepL being named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025, ranking #5 in the Applied AI category. Within the past year, DeepL introduced product updates like ‘Clarify’ for resolving translation ambiguities and ‘DeepL Voice’ for live voice translation. The company also raised $300 million in funding at a $2 billion valuation and expanded its U.S. operations with a new tech hub in New York City.

Founded in 2017 by Kutylowski, DeepL employs over 1,000 people and aims to break down language barriers for businesses. The company provides its services to millions of individuals across 228 global markets and is backed by investors including Benchmark, IVP, and Index Ventures.
