- AVL surpassed Bitcoin’s trading volume on Bithumb, reaching $36.47 million within 24 hours of its listing.
- Avalon Labs is expanding its ecosystem with USDa and a Bitcoin-backed debt fund to integrate DeFi with traditional finance.
No one expected AVL, Avalon Labs’ governance token, to take the spotlight so swiftly. AVL surged by more than 83% as soon as it was listed on Bithumb, the second-largest cryptocurrency market in South Korea, rising $0.76 before eventually seeing a correction.
AVL Surpasses Bitcoin’s Volume with a Strong Debut
AVL showed an amazing trading volume in addition to a rising price. AVL even exceeded Bitcoin’s trading volume on Bithumb, reaching $36.47 million, 24 hours after listing. Given that Bitcoin has traditionally led in trade volume on several exchanges, this is no little accomplishment.
The ecosystem Avalon Labs is building is one of the key reasons AVL is so well-liked. The company is developing USDa, a stablecoin based on Bitcoin. With a 1:1 peg to the US dollar, USDa promises stability and also generates fresh liquidity for the Bitcoin DeFi market.
Expanding Horizons: Avalon’s Plans Go Beyond Stablecoins
What about the initiatives AVL is working on if they may rise like this only due to a listing? While focusing on Bitcoin stablecoins, Avalon Labs also has more ambitious ideas. CNF reported in February that Avalon Labs had expressed plans to open the first debt fund for the sector supported by Bitcoin. By this action, they are broadening the range of their crypto offerings beyond USDa.
Avalon even plans to file this product under the Regulation A framework of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which will allow wider accessibility for retail investors.
Bridging DeFi and Traditional Finance with Bitcoin
Avalon Labs has also announced their roadmap for 2025. The main focus? Integrating Bitcoin into the wider financial system. Their goal is not only to create Bitcoin-based financial instruments, but also to connect DeFi protocols with traditional financial services.
Given the several legal and adoption obstacles still present, this is somewhat a daring action. But Avalon seems to think that Bitcoin serves as the basis of a more open and decentralized financial system, not only as a speculative asset, thus it has more importance in the financial space.
Beyond the Surge: What’s Next for AVL?
AVL is obviously not a regular cryptocurrency, with an amazing price spike and trading volume exceeding Bitcoin on Bithumb. Still, the issue is whether this is only a fad or if there are solid principles driving its expansion.
AVL has the potential to become a big participant in the market if Avalon Labs can execute all of its plans—from USDa, a Bitcoin debt fund, to the merging of DeFi and traditional banking.
