Avianca has launched a new offer to encourage American Express members to convert their Membership Rewards points to LifeMiles with 15% Bonus through February 28, 2025.
LifeMiles will bonus these Membership Rewards conversions by 15% for all incoming transfers (the campaign is only advertised on the LifeMiles site itself).

This offer is a one-sided bonus from LifeMiles that is NOT advertised or offered by American Express, so all references to the promotion and the execution of the bonus are on LifeMiles shoulders.
Usually, such transfer promotions are advertised by both the partner company and the frequent flyer program, but this time, there is no such reference when you look in your Amex Membership Rewards account.

Nevertheless, Lifemiles has its own promotional page for this offer and has run this campaign in the past, so there is nothing to worry about aside from the miles from the promotion potentially posting late and not together with the initial transfer.
Usually, points are transferred from Amex to Avianca post instant, but there are no guarantees; officially, Amex allows up to 72 hours.

According to the T&C the bonus miles will post 24 hours after the transfer at the latest but that’s what they tell you. Lifemiles hasn’t exactly been the most reliable partner in the past.

Unless you have a large number of Amex points and don’t know what to do with them, it would probably be worth considering whether it’s better to just buy the miles rather than transfer Amex out.
Word Of Warning
As we reported frequently, there have been consistent issues finding award space and issuing tickets using LifeMiles due to various website errors. Clearly, this has been intentional on LifeMiles’ part (less money going out). However, I would be very hesitant to purchase or transfer LifeMiles unless you have instantaneous use and award space can be booked using Avianca’s miles.
Conclusion
Avianca LifeMiles has opened a new campaign offering a 15% bonus on incoming points transfers from American Express Membership Rewards. These points will be credited to LifeMiles’ side rather than from Amex, but the program promises that the bonus will hit the account within 24 hours after the transfer.
As with every other program these days, I suggest only transferring points if you have a specific redemption in mind and not moving points and then letting them sit. They are much more valuable in your Amex account (flexible across many different partners) than in your Lifemiles account just to take advantage of a 15% bonus. You can always buy Lifemiles if you’re short at decent prices if needed.
Personally, I would keep my Amex points for another program to get more difficult-to-come-by miles (such as ANA), not Lifemiles, which I can almost always purchase with 150% or more in bonuses.
