Alaska Airlines closed its purchase of Hawaiian Airlines in September last year. Since then, the airline has been busy integrating programs and moving Hawaiian planes to the mainland to begin long-haul services from Seattle.
Alaska launched a two-way status match between the airlines today. Mileage Plan members can redeem their miles for Hawaiian flights or mixed itineraries with Alaska. Mileage Plan elite members can get select benefits when flying on Hawaiian without opening a HawaiianMiles account and matching their status.
You can access Alaska’s page for the announcement here.
Status Match:
HawaiianMiles members can link their HawaiianMiles and Mileage Plan accounts together to have their status matched, allowing them to enjoy elite benefits when traveling on either airline.
And, if those guests earned elite-qualifying miles (EQMs) in both Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles in 2024, they’ll be awarded the highest possible status based on their combined EQM balance. Even non-elite members can benefit from linking their accounts – if they have elite qualifying miles in both programs, their combined balance could qualify them to become elite.

Conclusion
Hawaiian Alaska integration is slowly moving forward (or, actually, it is very speedy in the airline world). Next year, it will become a member of the Oneworld alliance.
HawaiianMiles elite members should match their status with Alaska to get started with those alliance-wide benefits when flying on airlines such as American, British Airways, and JAL.
Let’s see how much Hawaiian long-haul flying is left at Honolulu once Alaska moves these widebody aircraft to Seattle.
