The Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, located in the prestigious Recoleta neighborhood, seamlessly blends history and modern luxury. The hotel officially opened its doors in 2006, following an extensive restoration of the original 1930s neoclassical palace and the addition of a contemporary wing. This unique fusion of styles offers guests a window into the city’s aristocratic past while providing all the amenities of a world-class hotel.
The palace, which gives the hotel its name, was originally commissioned by the Duhau family—wealthy landowners who acquired the property in the 1920s. Inspired by the Château du Marais near Paris, the residence was designed to reflect European elegance, a hallmark of Buenos Aires’ upper-class culture during that era. By the late 20th century, however, the building had fallen into disuse.
In 2002, Hyatt Hotels partnered with a local developer to breathe new life into the property. The meticulous restoration preserved many of the palace’s original architectural features, including its grand facade, ornate interiors, and sweeping gardens. To complement the historic structure, a modern building was constructed on the opposite side of the property’s central courtyard, creating a balance between old and new.
Today, the hotel features 165 guestrooms and 38 suites, divided between the two buildings. The original palace houses 23 of these accommodations, including eight suites that showcase the building’s historical charm. The remaining 142 rooms, located in the modern wing, offer contemporary design and state-of-the-art amenities, catering to travelers seeking a more modern aesthetic.
A modern spin on timeless elegance, this luxurious suite is located on the main floors of the historic Palace. Measuring 91–95 square meters, this suite features an original fireplace and cornice plaster ceilings along with a spacious living room, a powder room, a workspace, and a private bedroom with one king bed and adjoining marble bathroom.
The suite features a contemporary interpretation of 1930s luxury, with a design that complements the historic character of the space while offering modern elegance.
This property is a sought-after redemption option in the World of Hyatt program. Standard rooms at the hotel start at approximately $550 per night (plus taxes and fees). As a Category 6 property, these rooms can be redeemed for 25,000 points per night, offering a solid value of around 2.2 cents per point. The Executive Suite Palace, in particular, is priced at about $1,300 per night for stays next month.
