Does it make sense to buy LHW points?
Leading Hotels of the World prices award rooms dynamically. The points are worth 8 US cents each towards paid rates found on their website. You can buy them at a 100% bonus at 6 cents each and redeem them at 8, so there could be some value.
Just note that you don’t earn points for award stays, and they don’t count toward your status in the Leaders Club. The same company (Points.com) handles the points sales to LHW as they do for many others.
Conclusion
So, you can essentially buy points at 6 cents each that are worth 8 cents when you redeem them for rates found on the LHW’s website (likely lower rates elsewhere and through OTAs).
Buying could make sense if you already have status with LHW’s Leaders Club and could get a 25% further discount on the displayed rates (buying points and then redeeming them).

Leaders Club members may purchase Leaders Club points for themselves or as a gift for another Leaders Club member.
