Garuda Indonesia is once again selling GarudaMiles currency with 50% Bonus until February 17th, which coincides with a couple route changes, including the deployment of First Class to the Tokyo route again.
This opens the opportunity for using some purchased miles on such premium redemptions which otherwise can be rather expensive as the Garuda onboard product is quite good and tickets are typically expensive.
Garuda has a rather interesting route network, and customers who wish to fly to Bali might find it convenient to fly the airline either on a paid ticket or by using miles. Tokyo is one of the routes where these flights are very popular (and expensive).

When checking the BuyMiles section as linked on the website I don’t see any purchase thresholds and the price per 1000 miles is $21.50 not matter if you’re purchasing 1,000 or 100,000 miles.

Is this worth it? That pretty much depends on how you use the miles.
For travelers to Europe, Garuda is currently using it’s three-class Boeing 77W with Garuda’s famed First Class to Amsterdam so that could be one option.
As reported by AeroRoutes this week, they will soon change this aircraft back to the Tokyo route, which might yield a bit more revenue and has passengers who actually pay for First Class.
Garuda Indonesia in the second half of 2025 plans service increase to Europe, with the addition of 3rd weekly Jakarta – Amsterdam flight from 05AUG25 to 21OCT25 (Jakarta departure). Currently served by 3-class 777-300ER, the airline will switch to 2-class aircraft from 31JUL25.

This is interesting for the use of miles as the flight itself is rather long and not too expensive to book with miles in First or Business.
Bali routes are also very expensive so using miles on that route is also one way to save substantial amounts of money.
I wouldn’t say that using Garuda miles on Skyteam partners is a very good value proposition but you can always check for yourself here.
Conclusion
Garuda Indonesia is selling their GarudaMiles with an additional 50% bonus through a sale which is currently going on until February 17th.
There are quite a few interesting routes on Garuda that make sense to book with miles, especially Amsterdam (until May) and Tokyo thereafter, as Garuda deploys their very nice international First Class on these routes.
Garuda is one of the airlines that have always baffled me because, despite their many management issues, the carrier profits a lot from the route network they have to Jakarta and especially Bali, which is often difficult to come by unless you want to transfer in Southeast Asia.

6. Any miles subject to a Mileage Transaction hereunder will not count towards qualifying you for any increased or improved status in the GarudaMiles program.

Miles may be bought as a gift in blocks of 1,000 mile increments from 1,000 miles to a maximum of 150,000 miles per transaction. The maximum number of miles you may receive as a gift is 250,000 miles in each calendar year.
