- After an eventful 2024 marked by the successful release of the IOTA Explorer, Wallet, and TypeScript SDK, the IOTA team has shared some notable updates on its X account.
- The year 2025 is shaping up to be a busy one for IOTA, highlighted by the launch of the Builder Server on Discord and the voting process for the IOTA Growth Initiative.
The IOTA team has begun 2025 with a series of exciting updates shared in a detailed thread on their X account. These include the latest quarterly update, the launch of the new IOTA Builder Server on Discord, and the opening of the voting process for the IOTA Growth Initiative proposal.
In the final quarter of 2024, IOTA made significant strides across various fronts, particularly with the community-approved IOTA Rebased initiative. Key achievements included achieving 100% test coverage for JSON-RPC endpoints, resolving critical bugs in the indexer and CLI, and successfully deploying the Kiosk package on the Testnet. Additionally, the finalization of the IOTA Move VSCode Plugin marked a major improvement, greatly enhancing the overall developer experience.
In addition, IOTA made strides in Layer 2 Smart Contracts (ISC), implementing the gas concept, refining the Consensus module, and integrating the cmt_log component for smooth chain startup and block anchoring. These advancements enable ISC to operate efficiently on the IOTA Rebased network.
Launch of the IOTA Builder Server
One of the standout announcements for 2025 is the launch of the IOTA Builder Server on Discord. This dedicated space is tailored to meet the needs of developers and teams working on IOTA-related projects. Unlike the previous Discord setup, which combined community engagement and technical discussions, the Builder Server is designed to focus exclusively on enhancing the building experience.
The IOTA Builder Server offers a range of features designed to enhance the development experience. It provides collaboration opportunities, allowing builders to connect, share ideas, and work together on projects. Additionally, users can engage directly with IOTA Foundation developers, gaining valuable insights, exploring collaboration possibilities, and contributing to the protocol.
The platform also ensures a noise-free environment, minimizing distractions so that developers can focus fully on their projects. With these tools and support, the Builder Server aims to streamline project development and foster innovation within the IOTA ecosystem.
Voting Open for the IOTA Growth Initiative
Another key update is the opening of the IOTA Governance Voting process, which began on January 21, 2025, and will conclude on January 27, 2025. As we reported, the proposal IGP-0007 aims to launch the IOTA Growth Initiative, which focuses on expanding the ecosystem through two core pillars.
The first, the IOTA Awareness Initiative, is dedicated to increasing the platform’s visibility through targeted marketing, educational efforts, community support, and hosting real-world crypto events. Its goal is to attract projects, investors, and talent by showcasing IOTA’s capabilities. The second pillar, the IOTA On-Chain Initiative, focuses on strengthening the ecosystem’s foundational metrics, such as Total Value Locked (TVL), liquidity, and decentralization, ensuring that the network remains robust and decentralized.
Amid these developments, IOTA’s market performance has experienced a slight dip. The token’s value has decreased by 6% over the past week, though it has seen a notable increase of 10.3% over the last month. Currently, IOTA is trading at $0.327
