Following up on my article from last week about credit card elite nights, one of our readers emailed me saying that Hyatt has not credited any of the five annual nights yet, and all counters are still showing zero (unless you already had some nights at hotels).
Contrary to Marriott, Hyatt seems to be taking its sweet time adding these nights to the account, even though there is no particular rush unless you’re planning on cancelling your card.
Hotel credit cards have become quite popular as even the basic ones come with a rather modest annual fee and usually at least a free night certificate as well as some elite nights.
The trusty SPG Amex, which then turned into the Bonvoy Amex in three versions (Basic, Bevy, Brilliant), the Amex Hilton portfolio, as well as a wide variety of hotel cards supplied by Chase (IHG, Hyatt, Marriott), make it rather easy for members to earn additional nights and points.
This is the article in question, which I posted on January 1 – New Year’s Day:
Annual Credit Card Elite Nights Have Already Posted To Hotel Loyalty Accounts – Check Yours!
I mentioned that several programs already credited the nights and referred to my Marriott Bonvoy account which received 25 nights from the Brilliant card in the morning hours of Jan 1.
Regarding the Hyatt cards, Kevin wrote me that he’s still missing all credits and his account shows zero:
I checked with John, and he hasn’t received any Hyatt Visa elite night credits for this year either.
Now, it might be that Hyatt/Chase changed their ways in how they credit these nights. I had this card in the post until ~ 2020, but then suddenly Chase shut down all my cards (IHG and the Hyatt), leaving only my Sapphire Reserve open. Back then, the nights showed up in the first few days of January in a rather nondescript way (blank line in the Hyatt account).
Maybe someone knows what exactly they did, and if Chase now posts all these nights with the January statement, which is something I could maybe understand. Or maybe there is just a delay this year? After all, we only have January 6 today.
Conclusion
The Chase Hyatt Visa annual Elite Night credits appear to be missing this year, and there is either somewhat of a delay for Chase posting these, or they have changed the way these nights are credited and might post them with the closure of the January statement.
If you have the Hyatt Viss, either in the business or personal version, please let us know in the comments if you have received any nights yet and, if not, when they might post sometime in the next few days/weeks.
As I said before, I really don’t see any kind of rush here unless your annual fee is due soon and you plan to cancel the card. But I think these hotel cards make for a very good drawer or even primary cards given the low cost, the annual free night, the elite status, and the night credits.
