Virgin Atlantic’s and American Express’s latest conversion bonus of 40% extra for transfers made between the two partners will end today, December 31, 2024.
During this campaign, American Express Membership Rewards transfers (US only) to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club are bonused by 40% and have to be completed by today in order to count for the bonus.

Virgin Atlantic is now a SkyTeam member airline, and you can use your Flying Club miles/points on all alliance airlines and their partner airlines, such as ANA, which can be very lucrative.

The transfer is usually instant although it says up to 48 hours, usually that’s a cover for both Amex/Airline in case of a technical delay.

I would always recommend having a clear plan in mind of how you want to redeem your miles in the very near future. Transferring them to redeem later is not a very good idea, especially as Virgin Flying Club has a history of changing award charts without any notice to the detriment of the customer.
Conclusion
The Amex/Virgin Atlantic transfer promotion is ending tonight and if you plan to take advantage then you should initiate a transfer today.
Virgin Atlantic/Virgin Points doesn’t offer much value beyond using them for award flights through Flying Club on Virgin, SkyTeam, and other affiliated airlines (which can be excellent value with the right redemption/partner).
However, you should NOT convert even when a transfer promo is ongoing unless you have a clear plan for using the miles, or you may find yourself in an unpleasant situation(read more here).
