Malaysia Airlines apparently had an invitation-only, secret, lifetime status that we wrote about back in June (read more here), which was then confirmed by customer service.
You needed 4,000,000 Enrich points earned exclusively from Malaysia Airlines flights, which would have translated roughly into a spending of $381K, but there apparently is an issue with this.
You can access Malaysia Airlines here.
A reader contacted us recently about an issue because Malaysia Airlines and Enrich apparently purge this information after five years. They don’t have access to your lifetime tally beyond the joining date.
I find this very difficult to believe. It can be the case that the front-line customer service agents only have access to the most recent activity, but older data is probably archived and can only be retrieved when needed.

We understand that there has been some buzz about the Enrich Lifetime status.
Currently, the Lifetime status is by invitation only. Rest assured that more details about this new status will be made public soon.
We value your loyalty and dedication to Malaysia Airlines, and we encourage you to continue flying with us. Should you meet the criteria for Lifetime status, you will receive a personalized invitation outlining the benefits and privileges.

Malaysia Airlines Enrich Platinum Lifetime Status Requirements
Conclusion
I don’t know what’s going on with Malaysia Airlines and Enrich because this approach isn’t very professional.
First, they should clearly communicate the lifetime requirements, and second, they should have a meter on the online account to show where you stand. Most airlines I fly with have this information easily accessible on your online account.
The requirement to spend $381K on Malaysia Airlines to earn lifetime Platinum is absurd and would guarantee that very few could even remotely qualify.
Having more feasible lifetime status requirements for various tiers would encourage Enrich members to participate in the program continuously.
