American Express has published an increasing amount of travel offers under the Amex Offers tab that customers can register their card accounts for and save even more, in addition to many other benefits that come with the card.
Typically, the savings resulting from successful completion of Amex offer-related purchases post a few days to a few weeks after the charge posts as final to the card account.
With the travel season of spring and summer coming closer, a lot of Amex’s partner vendors must feel this is a good time trying to steer some business and entice people to spend with them.
I have filtered out the currently most attractive travel-related offers that are available for April and beyond:
The best options are usually those where you have to spend a very moderate amount, and the savings are quite substantial percentage-wise.
My favorites this quarter are:
- Qatar Airways
- Hertz
- Marriott Bonvoy
- Norwegian Cruise Lines
- Hilton
- Carnival Cruise Lines (only the main Carnival brand, not the subsidiary brands)
These offers are all targeted, and if you don’t see them in your account try activating a bunch even if you’re not interested in them, because it makes space for more offers (up to 100 being displayed at a time).
We have covered the Amex offers in the past, and while I don’t recommend buying something you would otherwise have no interest in just for the sake of some savings,
Here is how the offers typically work, take for example the Grand Hyatt $50 one that I covered before:
Amex Offer: Spend $250+ at Grand Hyatt & Get $50 Cash Back Through April 15, 2025
It took two days for the US$50 to appear on my account as a refund:
These offers have become very popular with both Amex customers, as well as the merchants which design and make these incentives available. It seems this is quite successful especially as Chase and Capital One have started similar or identical offers, although not as lucrative as with Amex.
Conclusion
American Express has a large amount of travel offers active and available for cardholders to review and activate. This is especially useful as spring and summer is traditionally a busy travel season and once activated this provides for ample savings, at least when used for those purchases that were planned anyway.
Best is to activate as many offers as possible and just let them sit in the account. Quite often I see refunds on my account and didn’t even remember registering for these offers.
Have you saved money recently using these Amex offers (or those from Chase/C1)?
