Multiple linear regression (MLR)

Multiple linear regression extends the concept of SLR by incorporating multiple predictors to enhance prediction accuracy. Assumptions of linear regression models

To ensure the validity of a linear regression analysis, certain key assumptions must be met:

  • Linear relationship: The relationship between the independent and dependent variable should be linear for accurate predictions.
  • No multicollinearity: Independent variables must not be highly correlated with each other, to avoid redundancy in explanation.

  • No autocorrelations: The residuals should not exhibit patterns over time, which could skew the analysis results.
