Chase’s New ‘Points Offers’ (Nearly) Double Your Ultimate Rewards’ Value
SHARE

Chase Sapphire cardholders already get a boost when using their points to book flights or hotels through Chase Travel℠: You get 1.25 cents from every point on the *chase sapphire preferred* and 1.5 cents apiece with the *chase sapphire reserve*. But now, Chase is quietly rolling out new promotions that could nearly double that value.

Dubbed “Points Offers,” these highly targeted new promotions give cardholders as much as 2 cents or even 2.25 cents in value for every point from their Chase cards. So while a $1,000 flight would normally cost you 80,000 points from a Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, one of these offers could let you book it for just 50,000 points.

Travel Daddy Dave on Instagram first spotted this new feature, sharing a stellar deal to book some $1,549 Delta One business class flights for just 77,000 Chase points. Normally, that same redemption would cost close to 124,000 Chase points from a Preferred Card.

A Chase spokesperson confirmed these new “Points Offers” promotions started in the Chase Travel portal this spring – and that others are coming “on a rotating basis.”

These offers aren’t an across-the-board boost using your points to book absolutely any flight, hotel, rental car – they only work for specific redemptions. As of publication, there are two Points Offers we know of:

  • There’s one offer to get more value from your points when booking premium economy, business class, or first class tickets operated by Delta, United, or Qatar Airways available via Chase Travel through June 15 – for travel through the end of 2026.
  • Another offer targets a handful of different luxury hotel brands, Hyatt all-inclusive resorts, and others – again when booking by June 15 for travel through the end of 2026.

These deals appear to be highly targeted. Few Chase cardholders may see them at all.

Among the 10-plus members of the Thrifty Traveler team with a Sapphire card, just one of us found these Points Offers. Plus, the offers seem to vary from cardholder to cardholder:

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders report getting 2.25 cents apiece from their points with these new offers
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders are seeing offers for redeem points for as much as 2 cents apiece,
  • But our Senior Editor Jackson Newman can only get 1.5 cents per point from his Sapphire Preferred Card on these select redemptions – still a notable boost, but a smaller one.

But on the upper end, this is huge. If Chase continues with offers like these – and the bank says it will – a traveler who picks up the massive 100,000-point bonus (before it ends) on the Chase Sapphire Preferred could turn around and use those points to book as much as $2,000 in travel.

Yet Chase hasn’t advertised this new feature … or even said a word to its cardholders, really. In fact, these offers are practically hidden: Targeted cardholders currently only see a mention of these new “Points Offers” if they search for an eligible trip in the travel portal, like a Delta Premium Select seat or flights in Qsuites business class.

“Chase is running targeted points offers that allow some cardmembers to maximize the value of their Ultimate Rewards points by redeeming them at an enhanced rate when booking select airline tickets and hotel accommodations through Chase Travel,” a Chase spokesperson said in a statement. “New points offers will be available on a rotating basis.”

Using the Chase travel portal is a natural starting point for many travelers because of its simplicity: The less a flight or hotel night costs, the fewer points you need to book it. Some travelers frown upon booking through Chase Travel, instead sending their points to one of more than a dozen Chase transfer partners like United, Virgin Atlantic, Air France, or Hyatt.

But when you find a cheaper price – either using Google Flights or in your inbox from a Thrifty Traveler Premium alert – booking through Chase can be the no-brainer way to secure flights for the fewest amount of points as possible. And with these points offers that stretch those points even further, it could be a slam dunk.

Dave’s example was a perfect one:

  • Delta was charging more than $1,500 for a one-way in Delta One business class between Los Angeles (LAX) and New York City (JFK)
  • Using SkyMiles, Delta was charging nearly 150,000 SkyMiles
  • But by using the Chase portal with this new Points Offer, you could book for just 77,400 Chase Ultimate Rewards

While these current points offers are fairly limited in scope, Chase says they’re just getting started. If the bank expands them over time with promotions on more airlines and hotel chains – and to more cardholders – this could become a surefire way to redeem some Chase points for maximum value.

Bottom Line

Chase has quietly rolled out new “Points Offer” promotions, giving select Sapphire cardholders even more value when booking certain flights and hotels through Chase Travel.

While it’s currently incredibly targeted, Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders can get as much as 2 cents per point when booking eligible flights or hotels while travelers with the Reserve card can get a boost all the way up to 2.25 cents apiece.
