Air France – KLM has a Flying Blue frequent flier program that covers both airlines and their low-cost and service subsidiary, Transavia.
There have been two updates to the benefits matrix this week that deal with lounge access and surplus XPs.
You can access Flying Blue’s page for the benefits here.
Lounge Access:
The matrix now states that Platinum members can bring Air France and KLM lounges not only + 1 but an unlimited number of children.
Surplus XPs:
Experience Points (XPs) are Flying Blue’s way to determine your status with the program. These are not miles; you earn them based on the cabin flown and the segment length within specific tiers.
Flying Blue changed the number of XPs you can roll over from one year to another (no longer unlimited) that are applied to member accounts over the next 12 months, and the matrix now clarifies this as well.
Platinum members can roll over a maximum of 300 XPs to the following membership year; all XPs over this are lost.
Conclusion
These changes could be to clean up this benefits matrix, although I am not sure if they have previously allowed Platinum members to enter with an unlimited number of dependent kids.
Unfortunately, Flying Blue no longer allows you to roll over an unlimited number of XPs, as it will likely affect how many flights certain members take and credit to Flying Blue. I certainly won’t credit any flight that XPs would be lost in the process.
