It has been nearly two weeks since British Airways ended its Executive Club program and introduced the “new” and supposedly “enhanced” (read: devalued) version called The Club.
I took my final two flights required for lifetime BA Gold (Oneworld Emerald) on March 31st, just before the changes took effect, and there was a problem with the credit for the partner flights operated by Finnair.
You can access BA here.
The British Airways flight I took on March 31st was posted correctly, reflecting the new lifetime Tier Points conversion.
However, the Finnair flight I took before the BA flight did not post correctly; it appeared with nearly 19,000 new Tier Points—far more than it should have.
Bizarre British Airways Tier Points Postings Since April 1st?
A couple of days later, British Airways added a new line to my account statement that canceled the Finnair credit instead of nullifying this erroneous transaction.
British Airways Removes Partner Airline Avios & Tier Points With No Notice?
This left me wondering when (or if) the correct crediting would appear.
To British Airways’ credit, on Friday, I noticed that my lifetime Tier Points suddenly looked correct again.
I also saw that the Finnair flight had been re-posted on April 10th but was placed in my account chronologically based on the actual flight date.
The lifetime Tier Points are now accurate, and I’ve passed the 550,000-point requirement for Gold—which corresponds to Oneworld Emerald.
Conclusion
I’m not sure what went wrong with “The Club” that initially caused the Finnair flight to appear with 18,870 Tier Points instead of the correct conversion (1,258 from the old 80 Tier Points).
Regardless, I’m glad this has finally been resolved, and I’ve reached the 550,000 Tier Point requirement (previously 35,000) for lifetime Gold (Emerald).
